Trademark Applications Declined But Still On Top
In 2007, the China Trademark Office received totally 707,948 trademark applications, which represents a yearly decrease of 8%. Among the trademark applications filed, 102,996 applications were filed by foreigners, accounting 15% of the total applications, which represents a yearly increase of 6%.In 2007, totally 263,000 trademark applications were registered.From 2002, the China Trademark Office has been the office received most trademark applications worldwidely.In 2007, Chinese applicants filed 1,444 Madrid applications, representing a 9% increase on figures for 2006. According to WIPO, China took 8th position in terms of total Madrid applications filed. For the third consecutive year, China was the most designated country with 16,676 designations.
